Payroll Clerk

A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Clerk to join its team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented payroll professional to take ownership of end-to-end payroll processes across multiple pay frequencies within a busy and supportive environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payrolls, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation while providing excellent support to employees and internal stakeholders. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you will also contribute to system improvements, process reviews, and ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll across weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and subcontractor payrolls
- Maintain accurate payroll records in line with HMRC and pension regulations
- Administer statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, and SAP
- Act as a first point of contact for payroll queries, providing clear guidance and support
- Ensure RTI submissions are completed accurately and within deadlines
- Support payroll reconciliations and reporting requirements
- Provide cover across payroll functions as required
- Assist with payroll system improvements, testing, and project work
- Review and update payroll procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve workflows
About You
- Proven experience in a payroll environment, including end-to-end processing
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Confident using Excel and payroll systems
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity
