About the Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the finance team of a successful and growing business based in Norfolk.
This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone looking to develop their accounting career within a supportive and evolving finance function.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting purchase and sales ledger processes, assisting with reconciliations, payment runs, VAT, CIS and month-end activities.
This is a great opportunity for an Accounts Assistant who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy, and is keen to develop their skills within a growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger & Payments
- Processing supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Preparing supplier payment runs for approval.
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries.
- Liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding invoice queries.
Sales Ledger & Credit Control
- Raising customer invoices accurately and on time.
- Allocating incoming payments and maintaining accurate customer accounts.
- Supporting credit control processes and escalating overdue balances where required.
Banking & Bookkeeping
- Processing bank transactions and completing regular bank reconciliations.
- Maintaining accurate financial records within the accounting system.
- Posting journals and assisting with accruals and prepayments.
- Supporting cashflow reporting and forecasting.
Month-End & Reporting Support
- Assisting with month-end close activities and reconciliations.
- Supporting the preparation of management accounts information.
- Providing financial information and reports as required.
- Assisting with Work in Progress (WIP) calculations and reporting.
VAT, CIS & Compliance Support
- Preparing VAT return information for review.
- Supporting CIS administration and compliance processes.
- Maintaining accurate records for audit and year-end requirements.
Payroll & Finance Administration
- Supporting monthly payroll processing and pension submissions.
- Assisting with insurance administration and renewals.
- Maintaining organised financial records and documentation.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Supporting ongoing improvements to finance processes and systems.
- Assisting with system migration and ensuring data accuracy.
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency within the finance function.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience within a transactional finance role.
- Experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations.
- AAT Level 3 qualification (or working towards) or equivalent finance experience.
- Experience using an accounting system such as Sage, Xero or similar.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with a professional and collaborative approach.
